• 1. Thoroughly clean all foreign material from block, bearing camp and crankshaft.
• 2. Debur the sharp edge where the seal housing bore meets the mating surfaces of the cap and block. This will prevent “shaving” the back side of the seal during installation
• 3. Install the seal halves with the sealing lip toward the front of the engine
• 4. Offset the seal parting lines 3/8” from the cap and block surfaces.
• 5. Sparingly, apply a thin film of silicone sealer to the seal ends that protrude from the cap and block, and along the chamber at the sides of the cap.
• 6. Lubricate the seal lip and crankshaft with oil or grease. Note: use grease if there will be a long period of time before startup.
• 7. Install the cap and set the crank end play per manufacturers specs.
• 8. Remove any excess sealer that may have squeezed out around the seal and cap
• Test run engine. Check all mating areas thoroughly to determine that all seals hold during operation
