The GM L98 is a 6.0-litre Gen IV LS V8 engine produced from 2006 to 2010, fitted to a range of Holden vehicles including the VZ (SS Thunder), VE and VF Commodore, Caprice, and Statesman. Sharing its 101.6 mm bore and 92.0 mm stroke with the LS2, the L98 runs a 10.4:1 compression ratio and - unlike its siblings the L76 and L77 - does not feature Active Fuel Management (AFM). This makes the L98 a straightforward platform with no cylinder deactivation hardware to contend with. The L98 uses rectangular port cylinder heads and a drive-by-wire throttle body, and is a popular choice for performance builds.
